Dune: Awakening – One Million Players in 2 Weeks

Dune: Awakening has stormed onto the survival MMO scene since its launch on June 10, and publisher Funcom is already celebrating a monumental milestone: the game attracted one million players within its first two weeks. That achievement makes Dune: Awakening Funcom’s fastest-selling title to date, surpassing even its earlier hit, Conan Exiles. To mark the occasion, Funcom released an infographic packed with surprising in-game statistics from the opening fortnight—and the numbers paint a vivid picture of life (and death) on Arrakis.

      Spice, Worms, and Blood

The heart of any Dune experience is spice, and players have collectively consumed over six billion grams of the melange—used for crafting powerful consumables, high-level schematics, and even fueling certain abilities. That relentless spice harvesting has its consequences: a staggering 816,730 players have been eaten by sandworms. The noise of extraction attracts the giant worms, so the correlation is undeniable. Meanwhile, the desert’s harsh environment has driven players to desperate measures: 56,253 liters of blood have been extracted from the cute, mouselike Muad’Dib creatures, presumably for hydration or other survival needs.

      Transport and Combat

Ornithopters have proven an essential mode of transport, with over half a million constructed across the player base. The deep desert, where PvP is enabled, has seen 628,807 deaths logged—a figure likely inflated by ornithopter-related mishaps as well as outright combat. The launch period hasn’t been without its PvP-related issues, but Funcom has acknowledged them and continues to refine the experience.
