Pokémon TCG Pocket: Evolution Card Revives Stage 2
The launch of Celestial Guardians has delivered one of the most diverse competitive metagames we’ve seen in Pokémon TCG Pocket. Stage 2 Pokémon, which had been largely sidelined by Basic ex-heavy strategies, have made a strong comeback thanks to the new evolution accelerator card that lets you skip Stage 1 entirely. This single card has reshaped deck-building, enabling powerful two-stage lines that were previously too slow. After a week of ladder climbing and the first major tournament, it’s clear this format rewards both consistency and creative counter-picking.
Tournament Snapshot
Participants in Ursiiday’s Pocket Weekly #27 brought a wide array of archetypes. The most-played decks were:
- Solgaleo ex Skarmory – 131 players
- Charizard ex Incineroar ex – 91
- Giratina ex Darkrai ex – 75
- Giratina ex Snorlax – 67
- Lucario Rampardos – 44
- Charizard ex (solo) – 41
- Decidueye ex Meowscarada – 36
The remaining 459 players ran a variety of other builds, from Magnezone/Oricorio to experimental single-Pokémon lines. While raw participation favored Solgaleo/Skarmory, it didn’t translate to top-cut success.
