7 Days To Die Cobblestone Rocks: Craft & Upgrade Guide
Your first real base in 7 Days To Die is probably built from Wood Blocks. They’re easy to craft and sturdy enough for the first few days, but they won’t hold up long once tougher zombies arrive. During a Blood Moon, a pack can tear through wood in seconds, leaving you exposed. Upgrading to Cobblestone Blocks is a natural next step, and the key ingredient is Cobblestone Rocks.
Crafting Cobblestone Rocks
To make one Cobblestone Rock, you need one Small Stone and one Clay Soil. Open your inventory, go to the Resources tab, and you’ll find the recipe. It’s a 1:1 craft, so you’ll need plenty of both materials for a serious upgrade. Small Stones are everywhere: loot containers, pick them up from the ground, or break large rocks with a Stone Axe or Iron Pick. Clay Soil is less common—your best bet is to dig with a Shovel. Looting can yield some, but it’s not reliable for the quantities you’ll need.
Upgrading Your Base
Cobblestone Rocks also go into crafting a Forge, but their main use is upgrading Wood Blocks. Each block requires ten Cobblestone Rocks. Equip a Stone Axe or Claw Hammer, make sure the rocks are in your inventory, then aim at a placed Wood Block. Hold down the Secondary Action button (right-click or the equivalent on your controller) until the progress bar reaches 100%. The block will transform into a Cobblestone Block, giving you much better protection against the horde.
A single upgrade won’t make your base invincible, but it’s a solid start. Focus on walls and doors first—those take the most punishment. Once you’ve built up a supply of Cobblestone Rocks, you can gradually reinforce your entire shelter and survive those harder nights.
