Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has received a free first-anniversary update that introduces new cosmetic options for the full playable party, alongside minor bug fixes. Developer Sandfall Interactive also announced that the RPG has sold 8 million copies worldwide and was the most downloaded new third-party game on Xbox Game Pass in 2025, indicating a substantial additional audience through the subscription service.

Anniversary Cosmetic Update

The update adds anniversary haircuts for all six party members: Gustave, Verso, Maelle, Lune, Sciel, and Monoco. Gustave’s haircut can be claimed at the Gestral Merchant near Stone Wave Cliffs, while the remaining five characters’ haircuts are available at the Gestral Merchant near Grosse Tête on the World Map. Sandfall Interactive revealed the update alongside new artwork of the cast sporting their fresh styles. The patch also includes several bug fixes: a problem where the Danseuse outfit obscured the character menu has been resolved, players can now open rest points during in-world dialogues without issue, and collision issues in various locations have been corrected. Additionally, achievement text has been adjusted for consistency; an initial adjustment caused a brief problem that has since been fixed.

IGN’s review called it a “modern RPG classic,” praising its combat system and gripping story.
