Instructions for Making Glass Products
Formation of Bubbles
Most products are fired at temperatures above 800°C. Under high temperature, the material becomes liquid and any trapped air floats to the surface, resulting in few or no bubbles. During the cooling process, heat flow slows down, and the internal air cannot escape to the surface, forming various bubbles. Bubbles floating near the outer edge or bottom are generally referred to as “air holes,” which can also be seen as the glass “breathing.”
Traditional Dewax Technique
Products made using the traditional dewax method belong to investment casting (one of the ancient casting techniques). They are crafted entirely by hand using ancient bronze lost-wax casting technology. The raw crystal material is melted in a furnace at temperatures exceeding 800°C and naturally flows into shape. After undergoing more than ten meticulous manual processing steps, they are refined into luxurious and exquisite glassworks. Their colors resemble flowing clouds and raindrops, with beautiful patterns and radiant luster. The quality is crystal clear, transparent, and dazzling.
Special Notes
All artworks carry the warmth of handcrafting and are extremely fragile. The final finishing step is manually polished by skilled artisans, so slight deviations may occur. The edges of the product will inevitably show traces of manual polishing, which is part of its unique imperfection. Colors, textures, and lively bubbles are essential elements that perfectly express each piece of glass art. When molten materials are poured into molds at high temperatures, countless bubbles are generated. During firing, due to slow movement of hot material, air trapped between material blocks cannot rise to the surface promptly, thus forming natural bubbles. Every glass artwork contains bubbles—more or fewer, larger or smaller, densely or sparsely distributed. This is what makes glass art “unique.” Bubbles are like living eyes, enchanting and full of vitality.
