Black Myth: Wukong PC Compatibility Mode – Guide
Black Myth: Wukong’s PC Compatibility Mode is an optional launch setting designed to improve stability on systems that encounter technical problems with the standard version of the game. When enabled, it deactivates certain high-end graphical features and forces V-sync on by default, which can reduce frame rate and visual fidelity but helps address issues such as lag, stuttering, crashes, black screens, and other visual glitches. The developers have not published a detailed list of exactly which features are disabled, but the mode behaves consistently whether selected at launch or via the game’s Benchmark Tool.
When to Use Compatibility Mode
The mode is intended as a fallback rather than a first choice. Players should start the game in normal mode and only switch to Compatibility Mode if they experience errors or instability. Because Compatibility Mode turns on V-sync and disables some graphical options, it often results in lower performance and a less visually rich experience. Trying normal mode first allows users to enjoy the game’s full graphical fidelity without unnecessary compromises.
How to Enable Compatibility Mode
Compatibility Mode can be selected at game launch when the prompt appears. If players later decide to switch after starting the game, they can open the Benchmark Tool and toggle the mode there. For those who do not see the compatibility prompt at launch, it can be forced through Steam: right-click the game in the library, choose Properties, and look for the relevant option in the General or Launch Options section. This method ensures the mode is applied even if the initial prompt does not display.
