Pack Points in Pokémon TCG Pocket: How to Use Them

Pack Points are a currency in Pokémon TCG Pocket that let you purchase individual cards directly, bypassing the randomness of booster packs. Understanding how they work is essential if you want to target specific cards without relying entirely on luck.

      How to Earn Pack Points

You earn five Pack Points every time you open a booster pack. The only exception is the very first starter pack you open when you choose between Charizard, Pikachu, or Mewtwo – that pack gives you zero Pack Points. Your current total is displayed at the bottom right of the pack-selection screen; tapping it opens the exchange menu where you can spend your points.

The maximum you can hold is 2,500 Pack Points, which means you need to open 500 packs to reach the cap. At the typical free rate of two packs per day, you earn 10 Pack Points daily. You can speed this up by using Pack Hourglasses or spending real money on Poké Gold, but even then, accumulating the highest cost cards requires a significant investment of time or money.

      Pack Point Costs by Rarity

Each card’s price in Pack Points is tied to its rarity. Here is the full cost list from common to rarest:

      • 1-diamond Common: 35 points
      • 2-diamond Uncommon: 70 points
      • 3-diamond Rare: 150 points
      • 4-diamond EX: 500 points
      • 1-star (full-art common/uncommon): 400 points
      • 2-star (full-art EX or alternate art): 1,250 points
      • 3-star (full-art rare): 1,500 points
      • Crown rare: 2,500 points

Because points accumulate slowly, you should plan your spending carefully. Do you want to save for a super-rare Crown card, or would you rather buy multiple lower-rarity cards to complete your collection or earn Flairs for duplicates?
