Leon hasn’t starred in a mainline title since 2012’s Resident Evil 6, though he took center stage in the 2023 remake of Resident Evil 4. Nakanishi stated that putting Leon back in the driver’s seat was a deliberate choice to tie together new and old story threads, returning to the “main route” of the franchise. After nearly three decades of fighting biohazards—the Raccoon City Incident of 1998 remains a touchstone—Leon’s combat reflects his seasoned experience with amped-up gore.
