Resident Evil Requiem: Combat Mini-Game in May
Resident Evil Requiem is preparing to deliver a fresh wave of action to players who have already conquered its main campaign. In an interview with Japanese outlet Denfaminico Gamer, director Koshi Nakanishi and producer Masato Kumazawa confirmed that a combat-focused mini-game expansion is nearing completion and is expected to launch in early May, shortly after Japan’s Golden Week holiday period (April 29–May 6).
Sharpening the Tomahawk
The new mode will be unlocked only after finishing Requiem’s main story. Kumazawa suggested players aim to complete the campaign during Golden Week so they are ready to jump into the mini-game as soon as it arrives. Nakanishi described the content as featuring tough battles and a high-action focus, urging fans to “sharpen your tomahawk and wait” for encounters that will leave them shouting “Whoa!!”
While the developers have not explicitly named the mode, it strongly resembles the Mercenaries arcade mode seen in recent Resident Evil titles such as Resident Evil Village and the Resident Evil 4 remake. In those games, players fight waves of enemies against a ticking clock, aiming for high scores while unlocking new characters and stages. Some past iterations have also required a completed save file to access certain content, which lines up with Requiem’s unlock condition.
The Ring Mystery Lingers
The interview also touched on a lingering question from the game’s finale: why is Leon Kennedy wearing what appears to be a wedding ring?
