Diablo IV Lord of Hatred Expansion: FAQ Guide

The Lord of Hatred expansion for Diablo IV introduces numerous systems and changes. This guide provides a concise FAQ-style overview of the most impactful updates, covering War Plans, the Horadric Cube, crafting, loot filters, mercenaries, itemization, and general fixes.

      War Plans

War Plans must be completed in sequence. If a party member completes an activity that is not the next objective in their own plan, they receive the dungeon loot cache and experience for that activity’s tree but do not earn credit toward the War Plan. Progress cannot be synced among party members. The teleport function for Kurast Undercity now leads to the new Temis Undercity entrance; players can enter the activity from either that entrance or the Kurast Bazaar entrance.

      Horadric Cube

The Amalgamation recipe requires five identical items. Removing an affix from a Rare or Magic item downgrades its rarity if the affix count falls below the minimum (three for Rare, one for Magic). Making an item Unmodifiable via Transfiguration prevents all further alterations except for swapping socketable items such as Gems or Runes.

      Crafting Changes

Most herb nodes—excluding Angelbreath—now drop Veiled Crystals, as many herbs have been removed from the game. On Seasonal realms, Elixirs and Incense have been eliminated; only one Elixir and one Incense remain on Eternal. Alchemists no longer offer Boss Material transmutation.
