Packing list for a first trip – what did you overpack?
Every packing list online assumes you are trekking in the Himalayas. I want the realistic version.
Things I would argue are essential and rarely listed:
- A power bank — you will be on your phone constantly (maps, translation, payments)
- A universal adapter with a Chinese plug (Type A / I)
- Screenshots of your hotel address in Chinese — this is what you will show taxi drivers at midnight
- One physical card as backup, even though you will mostly pay by phone
